Pounced on by Brazil, the Argentina National Team Threatened to Fail to Qualify for the U-20 World Cup in Indonesia
The U-20 Argentina national team is in danger of failing to qualify for the 2023 U-20 World Cup which will be held in Indonesia. Javier Mascherano’s team lost 1-3 to the rival Brazil U-20 national team in the Group A match for the 2023 U-20 South American Cup which was held in Colombia. Appearing at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero, Colombia, Tuesday morning WIB, 24 January 2023, Brazil won three goals through Bureau (8′), Andrey Santos (36′) and Vitor Roque’s penalty (87′)
The only goal for Argentina was scored by David Gonzalez (90′). This is Argentina’s second defeat in the U-20 South American Cup. Previously, Argentina lost 1-2 to Paraguay. They are now in fourth place in Group A with 0 points. Peru, which also has yet to collect points, has been eliminated because it has played three times. Top of Group A is Paraguay with 7 points, followed by Brazil (6), hosts Colombia (4), Argentina (0) and Peru (0). The top three teams will advance to the second round. Currently, only Paraguay has confirmed its qualification.
Meanwhile, Ecuador is currently at the top of Group B with 4 points, followed by Uruguay (3), Bolivia (3), Chile (1) and Venezuela (0).
